Profile Extrusion Design
With over 60 years experience in custom plastic profile extrusion, Crane Plastics has a wealth of expertise in profile extrusion design. An on staff designer is available to provide design assistance ranging from consultation to detailed profile extrusion design. Crane's expertise can also assist in raw material selection and fabrication to provide increased value through profile extrusion design.
Raw Material Lab
Amongst the lab's many raw material analytical capabilities are included the ability to qualify a raw materials processabilty via the extrusion process, material strength analysis, accelerating weathering analysis and other material physical property analysis. The lab's capability also includes the ability to design and analyze custom rigid PVC formulations to meet specific performance requirements.
Custom Material Formulation Compounding
Crane Plastics designs and compounds proprietary rigid PVC formulations for use in the extrusion manufacturing process. In house compounded formulations are available in interior and exterior grades and normal and high impact rigid, low smoke generating and cellular PVC formulations. Some compounds carry Underwriters Laboratories listings.
Extrusion/Fabrication Tooling
Crane Plastics Mfg. designs and builds both extrusion and fabrication tooling in house. Our tool making capabilities start with CAD design which utilizes state of the art solid modeling and plastic flow analysis software. Construction is then completed in house with a fully staffed multi-shift machine shop which includes wire E.D.M. and CNC machining.

At Crane Plastics quality means providing products that conform to your requirements for dimensional, mechanical and aesthetic properties. Crane Plastics is an ISO 9001-2000 registered manufacturer. We employ a variety of techniques to assure our profile extrusion products conform to our customer's requirements. These range from routine internal QC checks to verify part quality to first piece layout and process capability analysis and documentation.
Extrusion Manufacturing and Secondary Part Fabrication
Crane Plastics utilizes both twin and single screw extruders for manufacture of custom profile extrusions. We employ downstream vacuum calibration exclusively for profile extrusion size and shape control. In line part fabrication is the most cost effective method of manufacturing a finish part. We also maintain a secondary part fabrication area for finished part requirements that cannot be accomplished with in line fabrication and light assembly. Like extrusion manufacturing, the secondary part fabrication area is staffed 3 shifts per day, 5 days per week.
